Top 10 Ways to Revamp Your Wardrobe

Here are some quick fixes and easy ways to revamp your wardrobe. If you are the type who ruffles through your closet and thinks that you have nothing to wear, it is time for a change. It does not mean spending hundreds of dollars with new clothes. It means having a clear eye, making most of what you have and reworking your looks to look brand new.

1. Ditch everything that does not fit. If you think you will fit into your skinny jeans again, you have the right to keep them. Throw or donate everything that does not fit or that you will honestly never wear again. Look for rips, tears or stains that are impossible to salvage. Create a throw away and keep pile. Be strict about it.

2. Check out blogs and websites for inspiration. Pay special attention to revamp or green blogs. Look for trends that you love—blogs spot them faster these days.

3. Rework your faves. Rework your favorite pair of jeans or your favorite t-shirt. Let it out, tuck it in or add embellishment. Turn old material into different accessories and if you love to DIY, you can make great items out of old clothes.

4.  Keep an eye out for bargains. Keep an eye out for classic thrift store buys, sales and other opportunities to update your wardrobe. Look for great pieces that last the test of time, like the print summer dress, the little black dress, a classic clutch or a great pair of vintage heels.

5. Make an in/out try. Every time something new goes in, something’s going out.

6. Stock basics and classics. Your new wardrobe still has to have some basic items that are classic every single seasons.

  • Perfect fitting classic tee
  • Perfect pair of jeans
  • LBD
  • Classic blazer/jacket
  • Classic trench
  • A flattering skirt
  • Day dress, preferably your favorite fun print
  • The perfect heel

7. Learn the art of mix and match. Figure out what items in your wardrobe work together and do not be afraid to mix and match styles, eras and colors.

8. Invest in the best. Do not be afraid to invest in your favorite pieces and designers, especially when you have that extra money to afford them. These pieces can be passed on and are definitely worth the cash.

9. Do not be too trendy. A trend is great to follow but it is just that—a trend. It will be a different one tomorrow. A trick is to find your favorite look for that season and go for that.

10. Finally, change your make-up. It has nothing and everything to do with your wardrobe. If you have been wearing make-up the same way for 5 years, shake it up!
